Greg S. Wingren, OD
St. Helena
Gregory Wingren graduated from UC Berkeley School of Optometry with research honors in 2013. As a student he received multiple awards within the school and nationally for case studies on fitting patients with specialty contact lenses and glasses as well as for patient care, management of ocular disease, leadership and community service. Prior to optometry school Dr. Wingren received his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from UCLA.
Dr. Wingren practices full scope optometry including the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma and other acute and chronic eye diseases. He provides comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings as well as post-operative care for our post-surgical patients. Further, he works in coordination with patients’ other providers in monitoring systemic diseases that have ocular manifestations including but not limited to diabetes, hypertension and autoimmune diseases. He stays up to date on the latest technologies in patient care and has acted as a subject matter expert for the California State Board of Optometry for several years: writing and reviewing questions for the California state licensing exam.
Dr. Wingren is a Napa resident and when he is not actively managing the health of your eyes you will likely find him outside taking advantage all the North Bay has to offer. He also enjoys traveling within the US and abroad and has provided eye care to communities in need on mission trips in Nicaragua and Peru.
